And with Ontario schools closed to control the COVID-19 surge, both parents and children are once again facing frustrations trying to juggle their lives with virtual learning. As Abigail Bimman explains, the strategy is also affecting the health-care system.

The remote Bearskin Lake Reserve First Nation in Ontario is pleading for help as COVID-19 rages through the community, infecting nearly half of its residents. David Akin explains how people are coping, how desperation is growing, and what the federal government is promising.

As the Omicron variant sends the COVID-19 case counts in the United States, to record-breaking highs, more people are calling in sick, crippling health systems, businesses, and even public transit systems. Jackson Proskow explains how President Joe Biden is responding to calls for a new pandemic strategy.

Atlantic Canada is bracing for a fierce winter storm this wekeend. Global News chief meteorologist Anthony Farnell reports on what to expect, and what other wintry weather is on the way for the rest of the country.

As Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev keeps claiming the country’s ongoing protests are driven by foreign-trained “armed criminals”, he’s now ordering troops to use deadly force on demonstrators. As Redmond Shannon reports, Tokayev’s threats are being bolstered with the help of Russia’s military.

Plus, he was the first Black actor to win an Academy Award, and is largely known for his roles in “Lilies of the Field,” “The Defiant Ones,” “In the Heat of the Night,” and “To Sir, with Love.” Now legendary actor Sidney Poitier has died at 94. Mike Armstrong looks back at the legacy of Poitier, who helped changed the face of Hollywood.

All emergency services wouldn't be stretched if you didn't fire your employees for freedom of choice, now they are home and healthy and emergency employees are sick. Gee go figure.

From an evolutionary perspective, what could be “good” news is, we’ve been lucky that the variants that have emerged can still be to an extent controlled by current vaccines, most likely because these variants evolved in mostly unvaccinated populations and were not subject to selective pressure of having to grow in the vaccinated. Nevertheless this doesn’t mean a variant will not arise that is resistant to current vaccines, rendering those that are already vaccinated susceptible again, as we know the unvaccinated provide a breeding ground for the virus to continue to generate variants. If this occurs in a highly vaccinated population, natural selection will favour a variant that is resistant to the vaccine. And this is why it is important to address the large pools of the unvaccinated in the world not to mention uneven vaccine roll-out because viruses replicate quicker in the unvaccinated, increasing the chance of mutations especially deadlier ones. Half of the word’s population is not fully vaccinated.

Time will tell if Darwinian Selection may solve the problem by many unvaccinated getting sick or surviving like the vaccinated, or most will die and therefore be removed as the breeding grounds for the virus.

For those who got the Covid19 vaccination they have to remember that since they consented to the Covid19 vaccine, whatever negative outcomes they may happen to them (or their children) in the future they have no legal recourse against the government or the pharmaceutical companies. Take into account that Monsanto has developed the "terminator" seed a few years ago that prevents a seed from ever reproducing again. Scary to think but very highly plausible and possible….
