I served in the US Air Force as a linguist when the Berlin Wall fell in 1989. I remember the song by the Scorpions, "Wind of Change." It is another national anthem to me.

After the demise of the USSR (I will never forgive Gorbachev) the lot of world citizens took a turn for the worse. All the humbug we heard from Reagan and Thatcher (remember them?) was just bunkum for the masses. Look what has happened since. Happy New Year!

Plain truth US bought Gorbachev and a bunch of Russian oligarchs, including Yeltzin.
Gorbachev lives very comfortably on US pensions and severaUS, Canada and Great Britainl University retirement pensions.
With Yeltzin all they, US, had to do was guarantee a roof over his head filled with a never ending supply of Vodka.
