MANILA — The Philippines has recorded an over 40 percent rise in the number of international travelers after the Southeast Asian country reopened its borders on Feb. 10, the Bureau of Immigration said on Thursday.
Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said 211,899 travelers arrived in February, up from 150,740 in January. “The bureau has been processing international passenger arrivals at the country’s ports at a record rate,” Morente said. (Philippines-International Travelers)

NEW DELHI — Delegations of India and Pakistan discussed issues under the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) during a meeting of the Permanent Indus Commission (PIC), said the Indian Foreign Ministry.

TOKYO — Japan will further relax its COVID-19 border controls from March 14, increasing the daily cap on overseas entrants to 7,000 from the current 5,000, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Thursday.

BANGKOK — Thailand, the host of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2022, said Thursday that the annual APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting will be held on Nov. 18-19 in Bangkok.
A series of meetings from Nov. 14, including the Concluding APEC Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) and APEC ministerial meeting, will precede the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, according to Thani Thongphakdi, permanent secretary for foreign affairs of Thailand and APEC 2022 SOM chair.
