“Development Program for Professionals in Educational Policy Management Contributing to Solving Global Issues” has been selected for the Inter-University Exchange Project, CAMPUS ASIA PLUS

The University of Tsukuba is privileged to announce that the proposal made by the University entitled “Development Program for Professionals in Educational Policy Management Contributing to Solving Global Issues” has been selected as one of the “Inter-University Exchange Projects, CAMPUS ASIA PLUS” by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).

The Inter-University Exchange Projects funded by MEXT aim to support international educational collaboration between universities in the target countries and regions that strategically accept Japanese and foreign students to study abroad, while ensuring the quality of higher education, with an emphasis on fostering global human resources capable of playing active roles in the international community and strengthening the capabilities of participating universities for their global developments.

The projects selected for FY2021 are those that promote educational and cultural exchanges that will serve as the basis for mutual understanding and friendly relations in the future, while cooperating with ASEAN countries and regions with the three core countries of Japan, China, and South Korea and implement education and research programs aiming to create a higher education community based on an international inter-university network in Asian countries.

In our program, in cooperation with five universities: East China Normal University (China), Korea National University of Education, Khon Kaen University (Thailand), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Malaysia), and Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia), graduate students select a global issue and visit the host university. The aim of this program is to promote interdisciplinary and international collaborative research exchange activities to explore global issues through research methods such as experiments, fieldwork, or interviews under the guidance of visiting faculty members, and to exchange their findings with each other in order to develop educational policies to solve the issues.

In order to address global issues related to multiple disciplines, our program is structured around the degree programs in Education, Environmental Studies, and International Materials Innovation, with three exchange programs corresponding to each discipline: Exchange Program A (Education Core), Exchange Program B (Environmental Studies Core) and Exchange Program C (Materials and Materials Science Core).

While leading the program, the University of Tsukuba will focus on the development of global human resources capable of leading interdisciplinary and global collaborations with a clear awareness of addressing real-world challenges.
