TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Spanish handball team defeated Iran 36-22 Thursday night in the first match of the international tournament.

The match was held in Cuenca, Spain where Japan withdrew from the event after several players tested positive for COVID-19.
First match of the XLVI International Tournament of Spain, Memorial ‘Domingo Barcenas’, played at the El Sargal sports center in front of some 700 people, because they could only attend 50% of the capacity due to the covid.
The tournament is part of the preparation for the 2022 Asian Men’s Handball Championship, which will be held in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia from January 18 to 31.
Iran is in Group B along with Saudi Arabia, Australia and India.
