The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) released body camera footage on Monday of a police-involved shooting that occurred Dec. 23 at a clothing store in North Hollywood that showed officers responding to reports of an assault.

The footage shows officers approaching where a suspect is believed to be located. They come across a woman, who police say on the video was bleeding before the footage shows an officer with a firearm rounding a corner of store racks. At least one officer opened fire at a person seen on the body camera, later identified as the suspect.

According to police, during the shooting and unseen on camera, a 14-year-old girl was hit in a dressing room by a bullet that went through drywall that was behind the suspect. The suspect died at the scene, but the 14-year-old girl who was hiding with her mother in the dressing room also died. Police say there was no gun on the suspect.

Man child cop realizes this isn’t call of duty. Maybe try other methods of takedown before immediately resorting to firing off multiple rounds in a public building.

They brought ARs to neutralize a guy with a bike lock. That's out of scale and overkill.

They shared no warnings to the suspect, they didn't try to deescalate the situation, didn't even try to neutralize him with lesser means than lethal force.

I know the value of lethal force when it's needed, when Policemen have to neutralize a bigger threat to protect a more valuable legal or constitutional asset, like the life and integrity of a menaced person, against a probably deadly threat, but it must be used as a last ditch effort. "Ultima ratio" in latin.

In this case the aggressor was outnumbered, outgunned and the place was full of civilians. A single plea to drop his weapon at first sight could have defused the situation, and if not, a single shot to his legs, aimed to the ground to wound him.

I heard up to 3 shots against the same target. The officers went for the kill. My prayers are with the family of the girl.

What's wrong with whopping that mans behind. They don't believe in getting a nightstick or a taser to beat them up or subdue?
Why are all of those officers so scared they are wearing a badge (shield) to serve and protect the public.

Just as a sad accident. I feel bad for the cop he’s probably horrified. I blame the lack of an appropriate firearm for the situation but mostly the criminal beating innocent women with a lock. Birdshot/buckshot shotgun ammo or low caliber guns should be designated for all indoor disturbances that’s just a simple fix.

That was not justified. He was trigger happy all day. My uncle is the chief of police for the Wisconsin state troopers dept and Ive heard it all and that was not justified. That's what tazers are for and why did he bring an AR? A pistol will suffice. Those rounds will go right through person like butter.

Tbh, justice has been served, the family just aren't satisfied with the end result (which is a totally appropriate emotion to feel). But nonetheless, justice was served. The girl was armed with a tube and the cops saw a bleeding victim. The circumstances considered, the cop did what was right at the moment. It was the same deal with Adam Toledo who also got shot because he was a dangerous person (even if he wasn't holding the gun when he was shot, the cop had an appropriate reaction to the events). If it's dangerous when an adult carries a weapon, imagine if a cop dealt with a pubescent kid holding a gun. This should be an example to not follow and be a better parent.

trigger happy cops…..enough is enough, he was quick to pull the trigger not knowing if the suspect was even armed. He had a chain not a gun, the suspect certainly didn't deserve to be killed either by police. He is a scumbag , no question , running around beating people … he certainly deserved to be arrested and tried . but not killed , and that poor little girl , the trigger happy pig who shot her should be charged with murder , and turn over his pension to the grieving family….police training has to improve. this is a horrible tragedy. SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED………….
